William B. McClain ,a black minister and educator.
told how 80-years old ;aunt Bea “helped him
When he was a young preacher .
as I strained and struggled to make the gospel clear.
preaching with all the persuasion i could muster,
Aunt Bea strained and struggled with me.
when I was in the throes of trying to get a point across,
I could hear Aunt Bea once in a while say in a voice loud
enough for me to hear it.
just help him ,Jesus !!
she was always with me.
she know that preaching in the black tradition is a matter
of cooperation between the pulpit and the pew.
God’s servant need help,
you may not feel comfortable expressing yourself in a church
services as Aunt Bea did.
But you can encourage your pastor by praying for him,
by listening attentively, and by participating
wholeheartedly in the services.
in the spirit of Aaron and Hur, “hold the hands” of your pastor
